To My Blog Followers Using WordPress Reader: Yes or No

Hi followers of Walk the Goats, especially those who find my new posts through WordPress Reader. Thanks for following me and…I need your help.

I posted a new post this morning (1/17/19) at 9 am Eastern Time entitled I Have 340 Separate Account Log-Ons.

My question to you is: did that post come through your WordPress Reader?

  • YES=Yes, it was there! Wahooo!
  • NO=Nope. It didn’t show up.

I’m asking because I follow myself and it didn’t come through mine. Not on my phone; not on my iPad; not on my browser.

Fandango, on his blog This, That and, and The Otherhas posted recently that he’s had lots of problems with blogs he’s following not coming through his Reader.  Right after reading today’s post from him about this, my post vaporized in Reader.

I’m a small blog with a small list of followers. Not appearing in Reader impacts the engagement I have, which is already…small.

I’m trying to do some data-gathering and would love it if you would post in the comments if you saw my above-referenced blog in your WordPress Reader. And if you’ve had any issues with Reader, feel free to note that, too. I’ve already reached out to WordPress about my missing post, but if I have more problems to tell them about, I’ll pass that on.

Thanks for your help. And for reading!  After this has been up for a while, I’ll tally the results.

And keep my fingers crossed that THIS post appears in Reader.

I’m glad you ask this question of your readers ; I have been pondering the same issues with my small following of readers as well. I tried logging in as another user JUST to see how my posts were appearing daily to others. Some days they appear immediately & others it takes hours before I see it. … strange.

      1. It’s interesting to see how things work from different devices. Checking when my posts appear in Reader is a new thing for me. Mine did eventually appear but, like you said, it was hours after I expected it. And I’m still not sure if that was because I contacted WP or just because it got delayed somehow.

Kudos to you for doing your own sleuthing. BTW, your site has a really nice feel to it!

  1. This post has but your previous post didn’t. I have had a longish break from WordPress and am recently back so couldn’t give very much more info on older posts. Hope you resolve the problem And thanks for the heads up that this may be happening to other blogs!

    1. Welcome back! And thanks for letting me know. One reason I wanted to do the post was to let folks know their posts may not be showing up in WordPress Reader.

The one I asked about showed up after I did this post, but that was also after I had reached out to WP, so maybe they made sure it got through. Better late than never!

    1. I had the same experience. And it either got trapped in some time-delay hiccup or the WP got it in there after I wrote them about it. It pays to make sure our stuff is coming through the feed!

Things have been kind of newsworthy over there recently. Here, too, but for different reasons. I hope everything is ok where you are.

    1. Thanks for letting me know. I mentioned to several others that I had reached out to WP letting them know my post wasn’t in Reader. I know it’s happened at least once before but I don’t honestly always remember to check it. After seeing Fandango’s issues, I figured I should and was glad I did.

So I don’t know if showed up because I reached out to them or just because it had been freed from some stick that grabbed it while it was floating downstream.

Glad it’s there now! Thanks for helping out.

    1. I’m getting feedback that those who subscribe via email got it ok. Those that don’t but follow me via WordPress and look for it in their feed may or may not have seen it there. A bit of the magic mystery tour.

      Thanks for letting me know.
